CGU Membership

Membership in the CGU is open to all who share the goals of the Union, which is dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of geophysical research. Join other geophysicists to promote Canadian Earth Science in CGU-sponsored activities.

As a CGU member, you qualify for reduced registration fees for CGU meetings and CGU-sponsored meetings, and are eligible for awards. CGU student members not only receive a reduced membership fee, but can also  compete for best student paper awards at annual meetings, and have the chance to attend regional student meetings.

The CGU has affordable membership fees, with a reduced membership fee ($30) for students at secondary and post-secondary institutions. Reduced membership rates are also available to members of:

Canadian Association of Physicists
Canadian Geomorphology Research Group
Canadian Institute of Geomatics
Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society
Geological Association of Canada
Société Québécoise de Géophysique

Through agreements with the National Research Council of Canada, the CGU is responsible for the operation of the Canadian National Committee for the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (CNC/IUGG) and for nominating Canadian representatives for various IUGG organizations. You may have the opportunity of representing Canada in these international organizations.
