CGU STUDENT AWARDS
CGU offers six awards to recognize outstanding performance
in scientifc research and presentation by students. The awards
will be presented at the Award Ceremony of each CGU annual meeting,
together with the presentation of the J. Tuzo Wilson Medal.
In addition, the winners of the awards and their supervisors will be reported in CGU
newsletter Elements, on CGU website, and in American Geophysical
Union newsletter EOS. For any of the awards, the student must be the first
author and presenter, and the abstract must be identified to the
CGU session convenor as a student paper.
There are three awards for general geophysics (including hydrology):
CGU Best Student Paper Award (oral presentation)
Chevron Canada Outstanding Student Paper in Seismology
Shell Canada Best Student Poster Award
CGU Best Student Paper
- A student must submit a maximum 5-page paper (inicluding figures and references) by 31st March, 2010. Please contact Dr. Hugh Geiger for a recommended template.
- A maximum of five papers will be selected for evaluation by judges as oral presentations at the annual meeting.
Chevron Canada Outstanding Student Paper in Seismology
- A student must submit a maximum 5-page paper (including figures and references) by 31st March, 2010.

- A maximum of five papers will be selected for evaluation by judges as oral presentations at the annual meeting.
Shell Canada Best Student Poster Award
- All student posters at the 2009 annual scientific meeting will be judged (excluding those in hydrology, who are eligible for the Campbell Scientific Award).
There are two awards for hydrology:
D.M. Gray Award for Best Student Paper
in Hydrology
Campbell Scientific Award for Best Student Poster
in Hydrology
For the D.M. Gray Award, a student must submit a 5-page paper by 26th February, 2010.
For the Campbell Award, a student must submit a 3-page extended
abstract by 26th February, 2010.

Both submissions should be sent to Dr. Daniel Peters ,
Coordinator of CGU-HS Student Awards.

There is also a Geodesy Award. To apply for this award,
a student must submit a 3-page extended abstract to Dr. Joe Henton before 14th May, 2010.
