Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the CGU

The Canadian Geophysical Union (CGU) showcases the excellent geoscience research of its pan-Canadian membership. CGU is also a community which welcomes a broad array of research topics and promotes inclusivity among its members. The equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) committee’s overarching goal is to identify ways that the CGU can better serve its community by addressing current EDI issues and challenges. The committee’s specific objectives include adapting best practices for maximizing EDI in the geosciences, developing a code of conduct for CGU meetings, developing a process for investigating EDI-related concerns, and introducing a survey on CGU-related experiences to inform the committee’s current and future work. The committee will report on its activities at the Annual General Meeting held at the national conference each year. We will also post updates on our activities and relevant materials on the CGU webpage.

If you are interested in being involved in the committee’s work, please contact edi@cgu-ugc.ca.
