Solid Earth Section

Research in this Section focuses on the physics and chemistry of the solid Earth and the liquid core of the Earth, including geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, marine geology/geophysics, chemistry and physics of minerals, rocks, volcanology, seismology, geodesy, gravity, and tectonophysics.

The CGU Solid Earth Section was started in 2009 with the following objectives:

Facilitate
Solid Earth geophysics research and development in Canada, in support of scientific, economic, and social activities
Build Links
with national and international organizations with similar interests to develop a global network
Promote
the results and applications of Solid Earth geophysical research to the wider geophysical and other communities and encourage multidisciplinary research
Encourage
the timely communication of scientific results and related information through conferences, workshops, special lectures, and the internet

Membership

You can join the Solid Earth Section by declaring SES affiliation when applying for or renewing your CGU membership. Affiliation with CGU-SES ensures that you’re kept up to date on current issues of interest in the field of solid earth research, important Section news, and relevant deadlines for conferences and events
