BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARDS
The Biogeosciences Section sponsors two awards for student papers in Biogeosciences presented at the Annual Meeting. For both awards, any student oral or poster presentation presented in a Biogeosciences primary or secondary affiliated session is eligible for consideration following application by the student.
- Best Student Oral Presentation in Biogeosciences
- Best Student Poster in Biogeosciences
Students must apply to the award(s) of their choice by the deadline and complete the submission criteria by uploading either oral presentation slides or a poster presentation slide as a PDF document.
Award adjudication is completed in two steps: 1) from the submitted oral presentation slides or poster presentation an independent group of Biogeosciences members selects 4-6 presentations for adjudication at the annual meeting, 2) a second group of independent Biogeosciences members attends all oral and poster presentations selected in step 1 to determine the Best Student Oral Presentation and Best Student Poster award winners in Biogeosciences.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE for both awards is two Fridays prior to the start of the annual meeting any given year. For example, if the annual meeting starts on May 25th, 2026, then a copy of your oral presentation slides or poster presentation should be uploaded by 11:59 Pacific Time on Friday May 15th, 2026.
Note: Students may apply for both the Best Student Oral Presentation in Biogeosciences and Best Student Poster in Biogeosciences Awards but will not be eligible to win both awards in the same year.
